Slippery Slope

Definition

Let:

• $A$ : An initial event
• $B,C,\dots ,Z$ : A chain of subsequent events
• $Z$ : A catastrophic outcome

Then an argument commits the Slippery Slope fallacy if and only if it asserts:

$$A\text{ happens}⟹B⟹C⟹\cdots ⟹Z\text{ (catastrophic)}$$

NOTE

This fallacy assumes an inevitable chain of events without sufficient evidence for each step.
