Tu Quoque

Definition

Let:

• $P$ : A claim or proposition
• $S$ : The person making claim $P$
• $\text{Hypocrite}(S,P)$ : $S$ acts inconsistently with $P$

Then an argument commits the Tu Quoque (You Too) fallacy if and only if it asserts:

$$\text{Hypocrite}(S,P)⟹P\text{ is false}$$

NOTE

The hypocrisy of the person making the claim does not invalidate the claim itself.
